Overview
Hikari is a conceptual design that combines elements of traditional Japanese architecture with Western design principles, focusing on the relationship between space, light, and nature. The hull is divided into two sections with different materials to create a dynamic, wave-like form, representing the balance of Yin and Yang. The interior of the vessel incorporates sliding walls, panoramic windows, and simple materials to create an open, bright environment that facilitates the connection between the interior and exterior, inspired by the Japanese concept of MA (้). This design reinterprets the relationship between man and nature, offering a new approach to living spaces.

The Solution
The solution was to develop a design that incorporates Japanese principles, such as the concept of MA (้), where space is continuous and in dialogue with the outside world. The hull was designed to be divided in half lengthwise, using two different materials to create a wavy form that embodies the Yin and Yang symbol. The interior spaces were designed to contrast with traditional Western enclosed spaces by incorporating sliding walls, panoramic windows, and simple materials that allow for a seamless flow between the interior and the exterior, encouraging connection with nature.
The Result
The result is a design that successfully combines Eastern and Western philosophies, offering a unique and harmonious approach to space. The Hikari project creates an open, bright environment that fosters a sense of balance and connection with nature. The use of sliding walls, panoramic windows, and simple, natural materials ensures that the interior and exterior are in constant dialogue, providing a refreshing contrast to conventional Western design. This innovative project challenges established design norms, offering a new perspective on how spaces can be interpreted and lived in.
